s17 Garage website migration and revamp
Website migration from WordPress.com to WordPress.org
I was asked to migrate a creative venture’s portfolio website from WordPress.com to WordPress.org (self hosted solution).
The artists have already had their own domain name but I helped with selecting the right hosting for her website.
WordPress.com is great for beginners, but they wanted to have a bit more flexibility, but still keep the costs down. The owner was happy to spend a little bit of time learning about self hosted WordPress websites.
I have migrated the content from WordPress.com and selected a new theme for the website. I also gave it a bit of a redesign to make it cleaner, more accessible and user friendly.
Together with the owner we revised the site architecture and decluttered the content. And all work took about 4-5 hours spread over a couple of days so if you have a similar project it is a rather quick and painless process.
This is the first stage of our cooperation and the website will be evolving as the artists have already a few new ideas in their minds.
Some of the next updates will include revising website’s function and role in their marketing strategy and further revision of the content.
Have you got a website that you want to migrate from WordPress.com to WordPress.org self hosted solution but you don’t know where to start? Give me a shout!
